A collage of my Intro to Painting class... paintings. Most of these were done on gesso-ed BFK paper. The self-portrait was done on canvas. All were done in oils.
Wow! Lots of great work here! The green pepper turning red is cool! I love this blue bow with the greens and the skull! The skull coming down the left side is a neat composition and you really nailed the shading on the side of it. I sure hope that hand in the middle one is not real. That blue bottle looks great against the skull. Really nice and loose style on the lower left. That blue bottle in the bottom middle is really nice...you got to be doing some really nice reflections and deep values on that bottle! All of your value changes work well for you on the lower right. Wow! What a collection! Of course, none of them are as beautiful as your self portrait, but that's because you had such a beautiful model! Great work on these!

The top right one keeps grabbing my eye. also the shading on the skull in the middle row on the left hand side is excellent. Again I must say Kudos on using oils. I still haven't tried that medium of art work and I would still like to. You've got some nice compositions.
Plus the top left picture of you makes me want to try my hand at another self portrait. Or at least to finish the one I started then quit last year.
I simply cannot imagine painting self portraits, in the days before photographs. It just seems incredibly difficult to me.
Several nice comments of which people have already mentioned, and yes I can think that you like the skulls very well, since out of all the objects the skulls appear almost as though I could actually touch them. Easily the most real in the paintings.
