The last in-class figure painting piece. I think this was 4 full sessions, minus clean up and breaks, that's around 10 hrs of work. Painted with oils on cardboard. Oh and the model is Lis, and she is little. :D

I'm just enjoying looking at this one. The color. the layout. THE CHICKEN! I really like the way you're working out the feeling of the fabric and the pose of the person looks extremely natural.

Thank you. Isn't that chicken light awesome?! :P It was hard to get the look right because it was glowing from the inside, so all the light and shadow was opposite of what you would think it would be.

Quite a neat bit of color and life to put together for a painting. I guess the whole "nude lying on a sofa with a single sheet" is passe'. :)

It seems that you had fun doing this stuff though, and I can't imagine it's an oportunity that shows up every day. ( I just read the comment about the chicken light! Awesome.)

So I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Don't artists do better when they enjoy what they're working on anyway? :)

This was one of our final in class paintings, and our Prof wanted to make sure we could handle the clothed figure as well as the nude. So as the class advanced we painted models in clothes instead of nude.

Things do always turn out better when you are enjoying yourself. Art should never be a chore.
