*hand dies* There were so many detailed steps to this lovely "King" that my hand has gone numb from all the little strokes.... oy. X__X
But I must say that I am in awe of him.... This turned out INCREDIBLE... better than I had hoped.
This was done in the awesome Corel Painter program.... with a few trips to my trusty Paint Shop Pro7.
I used several lion refs that I cut the face in half to look at, hehee, half faced lions.
The inspiration to paint a lion came from seening the movie "The Chronicles of Narnina" and listening to the soundtrack on repeat during the process of painting this. And the inspiration for the composition was based on this picture by *balaa [link]
and my own judgement... the full face looked silly and I remembered how tasteful Balaa's composition was, so I hacked him in half before I went too far in the painting.
Total time was about 10 or 11 hours. Prints and framed prints of this will be made and sold in the art gallery I'm in irl. I seriously need to get a print account here, so that you people who don't live in the Mid-Michigan area can buy my prints too. And now I go pack to go back to college... -_-

Edit: This is not Aslan! The movie and seeing the amasingly awesome Aslan was just the kick in the arse to get me to paint a regal Lion! I have been wanting to paint a lion for some time now, but never really had the guts or motivation to take the plunge untill I saw the movie, and the I just couldn't not jump in. I repeat; this is NOT Aslan!
